ELISABETH KÄSEMANN SYMPOSIUM

Every year the Elisabeth Käsemann Foundation runs a symposium in cooperation with German and Latin American universities about coming to terms with the past and creating a commemorative culture. A prominent figure from Latin America with proven experience in the areas of scientific, legal, and social analysis of the past, politics of the past, and commemorative culture is being invited to join the discussions. These events aim to promote the intercultural exchange on these topics between Latin America and Germany, but they also serve as an opportunity to identify different national approaches and methods of dealing with government-led human rights violations and to work out national narratives and their origins.
